Linda Kosut: Press & Reviews

Reviews - "My Own Kind of Hat" Tour

"Her radiant smile lights up the intimate space, immediately capturing the attention and hearts of her audience. Her comfort with the crowd promises an evening of good company and music. That promise is amply fulfilled. Delivering sincerity and honesty in abundance, she’s the real thing...the multi-talented Kosut...has a fantastic sense of dynamics within her songs. She knows just when to play it small and quiet, and when to let ‘er rip...a perfect accompaniment to dinner with friends."
“Dressed in classic black velvet and silk, Kosut can share more of her life in one song than three full hours of episodic television. Kosut’s show My Own Kind of Hat! charmed audiences to a standing ovation this past Nov. 20. Her sense of style and ambiance extends a genuine embrace to the audience. All the audience seemed to bask in the warmth of her honesty. When Kosut sings about her life, the audience not only feels it, they experience a little bit of it with her as they laugh and at times sing along. Singers such as Kosut are on their own, standing in the spotlight giving the audience that rare immediate intimacy that any good director or producer would envy to have for a show.

I spent an enjoyable evening at The Encore on West 47th St. listening to the clear, open, melodic voice of singer Linda Kosut. It’s musical, it’s lyrical, with a natural vibrato, and on her ballads I wanted to dance a slow dance with a lithe and beautiful woman. She is a charming, relaxed, comfortable performer, on key vocally and emotionally. The ballads work, the jazz works, and so do the side trips into country and comedic. Her band, led by Max Perkoff, is a perfectly-timed ensemble that gently lifts each song. The show is entertaining from start to finish. I had a great time and look forward to her return to our town.
