I am just listening to the last cut of Long As You're Living, and you have really done something. I am so impressed. What a daring and a well-done piece and the work you put into doing this Oscar Brown project. Your singing is so true. On The Snake – you were so involved emotionally. And Bid ‘Em In. Wow! What courage to do that. And I love what you did on Hazel’s Hips. It’s a beautiful work of art. I’m sorry that I didn’t hear it sooner. And really happy to hear it at last.

" 'I Think It's Gonna Rain Today' is such a lovely, plaintive rendition. Every other one I've heard always struck me as so overblown, over-produced for such a lovely, haunting song. I love your version. Less is More."

I just discovered you, Linda -- by clicking your name at Bread & Roses' website -- and listening to the music samples that you provide. You're just terrific! I'll try to catch you and the rest of the group that you've put together at Yoshi's. Regardless, though, have a wonderful time.

Linda Kosut is always a delight! Her choice of songs covers the gamut from hilarious to deeply moving, and her ease on stage makes the audience feel like a special friend. Her top flight musicians really enhance the experience, too!

The passion of Linda Kosut married to the lyrics of Oscar Brown Jr., plus a dynamite trio make for a most enjoyable evening. From the comedic to the tragic, from the well known songs ("Dat Dere," "Round Midnight") to the lesser known gems, Kosut takes you on a musical journey with her connection to lyric and her innate sense of musicality. Brava!

Your show at the Jazz bakery was great! Anyone interested in song stylings and nailing the lyric HAS to see your show..and buy the cd! I've listened to the cd umpteen times and keep "feeling" the emotion of being there in-person at the show. I am so grateful to be exposed to Mr. Brown's writings through your performance. Your performance sneaks up behind you, grabs you and doesn't let you go...even days later!

LINDA KOSUT'S "OSCAR BROWN JR" SHOW A SMASH HIT! If you missed Linda's show at The Jazz Bakery last Thursday, boy did you miss out! Her voice, her timing, phrasing and most of all her acting - necessary to bring across much of Oscar's music since most are derived from his extensive repertoire of poetry. It was one of the most enjoyable nights I've had and still enjoying through her superb CD that I bought on the way out. You can buy it by going to her CD BABY PAGE (www.cdbaby.com/kosut2)
And read what DON HECKMAN said in the LA TIMES (http://www.calendarlive.com/nightlife/reviews/cl-wk-kosut27sep27,0,6544609.story) Next up: Oct 10 & 11 - Davenport's, Chicago

I love having the company of you and Oscar in my car as I drive all over creation. Your voice is gorgeous (I already knew that), and the songs keep my poetry juices flowing. Good work! Have a wonderful tour.

Review of Long As You're Living, Linda Kosut CD
This CD, like the one Linda did before it, Life Is But A Dream, is an absolute gem. The combination of her voice and the superb Max Perkoff trio is irresistible. Did I say trio? I hear four instruments. Not only is Max a great pianist, but one of the striking features of this album is his warmly expressive and funky trombone backups. There are many surprises here. A Column of Birds is a most unusual song that can make you laugh and cry at the same time. Who but Oscar would come up with a song title like that? And who would dare sing it but Linda? The CD concludes with the title song, a rollicking twelve bar blues in five four time. Its catchy melody will keep reverberating in your brain long after the music has ended. Do not miss this album!

PS - I just love the fact that you put A Column of Birds on your site's opening page. That song knocks me out.

What a wonderful show that was. And it was so interesting the way you wove the history into the songs. You are a great talent! Loved the band too. Thanks again for the awesome show.

I just wanted to say I was so impressed with your delivery of your material last Saturday, and especially the slave auctioning song, which must have been such a stretch, but you pulled it off so dramatically and with depth. You are a very good example to your students of taking risk in performance.

Actually I enjoyed every song and was excited, wondering what is she going to do next?

Thank you for a very thought-provoking as well as entertaining evening.

I NEED TO THANK YOU -- for allowing Me and so many others
the opportunity to experience (or re-experience) Oscar through you! I think back to our conversation that night at Piedmont, and I can't believe you had any reservations about doing this show. Your heart, Your soul, Your spirit deliver Oscar Brown in THE most memorable of ways. Kudos, sister!! You keep on keepin' on -- I'm certain OBJ is standing on that stage with you!

I loved your show. I would wax eloquently, but I just plain loved the show. The selection was wonderful, the arrangements were perfect, your voice is full and rich and you sing beautifully. I'd love to hear another hour of songs. Please.
